Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Guided Interventional Procedures:

Interventional Procedures is something performed tens of thousands of times each day, every day. Some without Ultrasound guidance and now, many utilizing Ultrasound for precise localization of needle placement. Many using Ultrasound know you require a high resolution transducer, a steady hand and a lot of practice to visualize the needle!!   Although, in time, you will all be experts!

Needle Guides used for Interventional Procedures:

Performing an ultrasound guided procedure using a reusable needle guide bracket will make it easier to place the needle in the area of interest.

• Place the non-sterile needle bracket securily onto the tranducer as custom designed.
• Place a sterile sleeve onto the transducer over the bracket
• Clip on the sterile disposible needle guide over  the sleeve that fastens to the bracket
• Activate the on-screen placement lines

This will create a completely sterile environment. The needle is inserted through the guide and will follow directly down to center of the transducer. You will clearly visualize the needle in the long axis due to the accuracy of the bracket position. Using this bracket specifically manufactured for the MyLab, you are able to activate the On-Screen placement lines which is where you will position the area of interest. It may seem like “training wheels” but it is a no brainer for accurate injection sites; especially for deep joints with surrounding vessels.

Free hand injections are frequenty performed with practice. However, Biosound has the guide available to make injections easier for you and more effective for your patient.
